Jason Douglas at thundersport gb donington park
Jason went out in Friday test day and put in 6 laps and did not come back round we found out he had a machine problem when he came back we got to work we noticed the spark plug had broke but when we checked the rest and noticed the crank had locked up so that was that no more testing. We were now looking for an other crank but no luck so we were going home until Steve weeden offered us toms bottom end so we had to strip his bike and Jason’s bike and change the top end and generator so we made qualifying but with no settings for bike it was trying so we had jetted the bike up and off Jason went he was up the front on the timing sheet but the he gave me a sign to which was not good he qualified in 18th place not good but he was still up beat the bike was running to rich.
On to supper pole race and it was raining we were happy because we were 18th on the grid with bsb boys on the front row but Jason was up for it so of we went he got a good start and went from 18th to first on the first lap he had a good lead and held it for a while but he was getting caught down the straight by the b s b boy’s with the faster bikes but when they got him they did not leave him he stayed with them till the end and took third in the over all and first in the cup so got good points and put him a head of Sam Burman which gave him a points lead in the over all for third place but still two races to go.
On to Sunday on the front row so Jason was happy but it was dry Jason got a good start but Kyle got passed and Jason tried to stay with him but his bike was faster and he was of then as the race went on Jason took cramp in his leg and was having problems as the race went on he fell back to 6th place where he finished 6th in the over all and second in the gp3 cup with Sam back in 13th all we had to do was finish the final race to take third over all gp3.
Second race once again Jason got a good start with Kyle it was going good then Kyle pulled out as the race was going on the rear tyre was sliding and my clock bracket broke but I new I had to finish so I was in 5th but was still in the race as I could stay with the pack but did not have the confidence in the corners so I could not get the power down quick enough I did try but no joy so I took 5th overall and second in the cup.
Well done to tom and Luke I gave it a good shot but some bad luck at cadwell park and not going to pembrey due to lack of finances but that’s how it goes. So I have finished seconded in the cup and third in the over all gp3 125 cc championship at thundersport gb big thanks to all at thundersport gb.
Hi here we are at Anglesey in Wales for the thundersport gb gp3 clash. Friday is the test
Day I went out and tried to fined a good sent up for the racing on Saturday and Sunday
But I had the piston seize not a good start to the weekend so this had to be sorted .
I got it sorted and went out but on the cool down lap after the session the temp went up quick so came back to the pits bike detonated the piston with being sea level must not have jetted up enough when the bike was stripped down to check we found spark plug
Cap was not good so we changed it and jetted up . When the bike came back after the last
Session it was running rich so we left it better safe than sorry.
On race day on Saturday we had qualifying I put the bike on pole so I was happy the first
Race was a supper pole race got good start I worked my way to the front I had a good race with Dylan wyn davies his bike was fast along the straight I new I had to have a gap going on to the straight which I managed but on the last lap he came passed tried to get him back at the top of the circuit and down to the cork screw but he held his line so I went for it on the left going on to the start finish line got him but to quick with the throttle
And got threw out the seat but stayed on just and took second it the gp3 and first in the gp3 cup so very happy.
On to Sunday race 1 we took the grid I was second on the grid not so good a start but made my way up to third but as I came up to left hand at top of the track there was bike in front of me and the rider on the deck I managed to stop not good but lifted my bike up and got going by this time Dylan had pulled a gap so I set about catching him got passed him but he caught me on the back straight but managed to keep him behind I got passed some back markers at the right time which gave me a lead on the straight but it was tight but I new if I could keep him behind to the top of the track I had a chance I did and won the race first which gave me the over all win in gp3 and in the gp3 cup.
Race 2 still wet but was not sure whether to change the rear tyre as it was not looking good but there was not as much rain so left it as it turned out I should have got of the line ok but the bike was not so good in the corners but me Harry got away and got a gap on Dylan but as the race went on I could not stay with Harry and but had safe gap from Dylan so I finished in second in the cup and second over all gp3 so a wet weekend but took good points in the cup and gp3 overall so happy boy.
